A1. House of Pleasure
A2. Power 2 Tha People
B1. ADHDisco
B2. Lovechild [Love Mix]

With inspirations spanning from Samurai Movies of the 1950's across Hip-Hop from the 80's, to white-labelled tool-techno records and Anime from the 90's, Narciss has catapulted themself into the contemporary hard dance spotlight with a flurry of furious cuts on Lobster Theremin and 1Ø PILLS MATE, and now the German producer readies four synth-wavey bops of pop-techno and hardcore on Eurodance Inc.

Staying true to the Eurodance aesthetic, and following one of the year's most well received dance music records in DJ Heartstring’s ‘4 The People’, ‘House Of Pleasure’ displays Narciss’ love for splashes of colour amongst the usually-grey Berlin soundscape. Taking as much influence from the golden-era of trance electronics as it is the Tresor heyday, it’s gradual incline from techno to eurodance is completed on ‘Power 2 Tha People’; a cut of deep trance that touches the border of cheese whilst maintaining a headsy, underground appeal.

‘ADHDisco’ is a warped sequence of classic soul nostalgia and high speed futuristic brain-dance that plays out like an alien discovering Northern Soul for the first time, before the classic hardcore synth patterns and unrelenting kicks of ‘Lovechild (LOVE MIX)’ lay the foundation for a soulfully transcendent cut of classic Chicago and hard-house blends.

Around the world a growing movement of people are using their creativity, design skills and purchasing power to demand fashion without pollution. United by a shared belief that the clothes we wear should carry a story we can be proud of, activists, bloggers, designers, scientists and models have been able to convince big brands including Zara, Mango, Valentino, UNIQLO and H&M to commit to toxic-free fashion. There is still a long way to go, but our successes so far prove that when we work together, big brands are forced to stand up and deliver.

With special thanks to Nova Heart ( for the use of their track "My Song 9" from the Beautiful Boys EP, and to Jeff Garner and Prophetik for the use of their footage in the making of this film.

On April 13, 2019, Patti Smith + Stewart Copeland (on percussion) joined Choir! Choir! Choir! at Onassis Festival 2019: Democracy Is Coming, co-presented by The Public Theatre and Onassis USA. Together, we sang Patti Smith's anthem "People Have The Power" with a sold-out crowd and Stewart Copeland played percussion, specially a Brazilian samba frying pan!

What happened was pure magic and we're still pinching ourselves. A special thanks to everyone who helped to make this moment happen. Enjoy! #UseYourVoice

In early 2019 Craig Foster (former Australian football captain) led an international campaign to free a young Bahraini footballer and refugee, Hakeem al-Araibi from a Thai prison. In his talk he acknowledges the power of everyday people and sport’s increasing responsibility to play a larger role in protecting all those touched by it, whether fans, players, or the myriad of other stakeholders involved particularly in the staging of major events. The growing field of sport and human rights is a vitally important one for a world where we’re seeing the human rights of people everywhere under threat, whether asylum seekers, women’s rights, children’s safety and the rights of the child, the fundamental principles of democracy and freedom of speech. Craig Foster, a former Socceroo captain who played 29 times for Australia, is one of the most respected broadcasters (at SBS), commentators and contributors in the history of the game in the country. He works in the sphere of social justice through programs with refugee and indigenous children, using football to provide life opportunities. Craig is a refugee and human rights ambassador with Amnesty, sits on the Australia Committee for Human Rights Watch, Advisory Board of the Australian Institute of Human Rights, UNSW and the Australian Multicultural Council, Federal Government. He recently spearheaded a campaign to free a young player from Bangkok Remand Prison, Hakeem al-Araibi, creating a global movement and leading a coalition of organisations across sporting and human rights. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at

In May this year, the German government formally acknowledged responsibility for the colonial-era genocide against Namibia's Herero and Nama peoples more than 100 years ago.

It was the first such atrocity of the 20th century, committed between 1904 and 1908 in the name of Imperial Germany in the territory known then as German South West Africa. As such, many historians now see it as foreshadowing the Nazi Holocaust of World War II.

But Herero and Nama activists, who have long campaigned for reparations, say the compensation on offer does not truly reflect the appalling suffering of the tens of thousands who died - through ethnic cleansing, disease, starvation, imprisonment and torture.

In Namibia: The Price of Genocide, filmmakers Naashon Zalk and Hamilton Wende have been finding out why.

Editor's note: This film contains some distressing images.

In the aftermath of Myanmar's military coup in February 2021, and the brutal suppression of the protests that followed, thousands of pro-democracy activists decided to fight back against the generals.

Many fled into the remote countryside to join the armed resistance, known collectively as the People's Defence Force (PDF), and seek training, weapons and support from long-established ethnic rebel groups, such as the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), which have been battling the Myanmar military, or Tatmadaw,  for several decades.

People & Power gained access to some of those on the front line in an increasingly brutal conflict that's largely hidden from the world's gaze.

Thousands of migrants and refugees are stranded in freezing winter conditions on the border between Belarus and the European Union.

It is a developing humanitarian emergency that neighbouring countries say has been deliberately engineered by Belarus's authoritarian leader, Alexander Lukashenko, in response to EU sanctions.

But to many of his battle-weary political opponents, whether at home or in exile, the president's latest departure from international norms is just another example of his cavalier attitude to human rights.

As the crisis was brewing in October 2021, People & Power went to find out why.

0 Views · 3 months ago

Last December, an Al Jazeera network investigation examined shocking claims that the government of Kenya has been running secret police death squads, tasked with assassinating suspected terrorists and criminals. At the time the Kenyan government strongly refuted the allegations but reports and rumours in Kenya about extra-judicial killings have continued to proliferate.

Ten months on, People and Power asked Mohammed Ali, one of Kenya’s top independent investigative journalists, to find out why.

In this deeply worrying film, Ali discovers that mysterious killings are indeed continuing amid a culture of apparent impunity, leaving Kenyan security forces open to suspicions that they are unaccountable and seemingly out of control.

He discovers that over 1,500 Kenyan citizens have been killed by the police since 2009, and that statistically, Kenyans are currently five times more likely to be shot by a policeman than a criminal.

With often little or no investigation by the Kenyan state into the circumstances surrounding these deaths, he finds evidence to suggest that an increasing number of Kenyan police officers may be complicit in what have been described as summary executions of suspects.

Even the Kenyan army, seen by most Kenyans as less corrupt and more trustworthy than the police, is now allegedly implicated in the torture and forced disappearance of terror suspects in the country’s northeastern region.

This film contains graphic images of violence and its aftermath that some viewers may find disturbing.
